GREENSBORO, N.C.—Greensboro Sports Commission President
Kim Strable and UNCG Director of Athletics Kim Record have
announced the 2012 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Greensboro
Regional will be staged at the Grandover Resort. The regional,
previously scheduled to take place at Forest Oaks Country Club,
will be held on the East Course of the resort. Grandover Resort
also served as the site of the 2011 NCAA Division III Men’s
Golf Championships.
“The NCAA was incredibly impressed with the Grandover golf
facility as the host site for the Division III national
championship last May,” said Strable. “They enjoy
having full service amenities on-site and within close proximity to
the venue so this change proved to be a very nice fit.”
The golf regional will be the first time UNCG has hosted a
multi-team NCAA Championship event since the 1998 Division I
Women’s Soccer Championship.
“We are pleased to partner with the Sports Commission in
hosting some of the best collegiate golfers in the country,”
said Record. “We are expecting a great season from our
men’s program and naturally it would be incredible for our
players and the entire Greater Greensboro community if we can earn
our way into the field at Grandover.”
The regional sites will be held May 17-19, 2012. The championship
is scheduled for May 29 through June 3. Along with UNCG, the NCAA
Division I Men’s Golf Committee also chose Michigan, Georgia,
Western Kentucky, Stanford and Oklahoma as regional hosts in 2012
