IMG and UNCG form athletics multimedia rights partnership
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Continuing its rapid growth as the
leader in college sports marketing, IMG College, a division of IMG
Worldwide, today announced it has reached an agreement with The
University of North Carolina at Greensboro for a multi-year
multimedia rights partnership.
“We are pleased to announce this strategic partnership with
IMG College, and look forward to continuing to grow the UNCG
brand,” said Kim Record, Director of Athletics, UNCG.
“We are confident that this partnership will result in
maximized sponsorship opportunities and increased exposure for our
University through IMG’s global resources.”
Under the terms of the agreement, IMG College will manage and
market all rights associated with corporate sponsorships, stadium
and venue signage, game promotions, and hospitality for UNCG. IMG
College will also provide a professional, full-time sales force
dedicated to serving the University. Wade Howell will oversee the
property as general manager.
“UNCG has been a valued consulting partner for the past three
years, and we are excited to extend our relationship with the
University to include a multimedia rights agreement,” said
Ben C. Sutton Jr., President, IMG College. “We look forward
to the new initiatives we can develop to expand the reach of
Spartan athletics to the millions of college sports fans around the
nation.”
The partnership is effective July 1, 2011. UNCG has been a partner
of The Collegiate Licensing Company, also a division of IMG
Worldwide, since 1991.
IMG College currently represents multimedia rights at four
additional institutions in the Southern Conference including
Appalachian State, Elon, Furman, and Wofford.
Since its inception in 2007, IMG College has grown to represent the
sponsorship or multimedia rights for more than 100 collegiate
properties.

golfer Becky Morgan and German League (basketball) finals MVP Kyle
Hines. Prior to the 2009-10 season, UNCG’s men’s
basketball team moved to the venerable Greensboro Coliseum, which
has hosted the ACC tournament 23 times and NCAA tournament action
12 times, including the 1974 Final Four.
