Chip Welch enters his first season as assistant director of media relations at UNCG. Welch will serve as the primary contact for volleyball, women’s basketball and baseball.
Welch spent the past four years as the assistant director for
athletics media relations at East Carolina University. He served as
the primary contact for women’s basketball, volleyball,
soccer (2008) and track and field.
Welch, a Greensboro native, spent the 2007-08 season as an intern at ECU, working with volleyball, softball and cross country. He also worked the 2009 NCAA Baseball Regional in Greenville, the 2010 NCAA Women’s Basketball Regional in Memphis, the 2010 NCAA Women’s Golf Tournament in Greenville, the 2011 NCAA Men’s Basketball Second and Third Rounds in Charlotte and the 2012 NCAA Women’s Basketball Regional in Raleigh.
Welch earned his degree in communication in 2007 from East Carolina, where he spent two years working in the media relations office as a student assistant.
