Jonanthan Harvey joined the UNCG women's soccer staff on in
January 2013 as an assistant coach. Harvey recently spent the
last two seasons as a volunteer coach at Georgia and five seasons
as an assistant at North Georgia.
Harvey came to Georgia in February 2011 as a volunteer coach and
worked primarily with the goalkeepers. He helped All-SEC and
All-Region keeper Ashley Baker finish her career in the Bulldog
record books in nearly every category, going on to sign a
professional contract in England and earn a call-up to the Senior
National Team's camp following her time at Georgia and with
Harvey.
Prior to Georgia, Harvey spent five successful seasons as an
assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at NCAA Division II
North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega, Ga. Harvey
helped the Lady Saints to a 48-34-8 record in his five seasons, a
stint that culminated in 2010 with the program's first ever NSCAA
Top-25 ranking and finish as the Peachbelt Conference Tournament
runner-up.
As the assistant at North Georgia, Harvey was instrumental in lowering the Saints' goals-against average from 1.79 in 2005 to 1.03 in 2010, a program-best. While at NGCSU, Harvey recruited and trained 13 PBC All-Conference performers, five NSCAA All-Southeast Region selections, and one NSCAA All-American and PBC Freshman of the Year. Harvey worked closely with head coach Chris Adams on day-to-day operations, practice planning, fundraising, travel, and recruiting.
Harvey has ties to youth soccer in Georgia having served as Georgia ODP Staff Coach for the 92 and 96 Girls teams. Harvey has also trained goalkeepers at United Futbol Academy and Gwinnett Soccer Association over the previous two years. He is on staff at Last Defense Goalkeeping Academy in Atlanta, which provides specific technical and tactical training for goalkeepers. Harvey has extensive summer camp experience as well having been on staff at Clemson Soccer Camp, Western Carolina Soccer Camp, and the University of Georgia Soccer Camps.
Harvey played his collegiate soccer at Oglethorpe University and also served in the United States Navy from 2000-2005. This stint in the Navy included decorated combat tours in the Al Anbar Province, Iraq, in 2004 and 2005.
Harvey holds the USSF B License, NSCAA Levels I, II, and III
Goalkeeping Diplomas. A native of Athens, Ga., Harvey earned his
bachelor's degree in political science from North Georgia College
and State University.
He is married to the former Raegan Yeomans of Jesup, Ga., a
graduate of the University of Georgia.
