UNCG continues to move up in mid-major top-25
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG continued its recent hot streak last week and was rewarded by moving up three spots in the CollegeBaseballDaily.com Mid-Major top-25 poll. The team was also named as an honorable mention Team of the Week by CollegeBaseballInsider.com.
After checking into the poll two weeks ago at No. 25, the team moved up to No. 19 last week after taking two of three on the road against College of Charleston.
This week, UNCG moved up to No. 16 in the poll as it went a perfect 4-0 on the week. The Spartans started the week with a 12-4 win on the road against High Point and then swept The Citadel in a weekend series at home.
Also this week, the UNCG was honored by CollegeBaseballInsider.com as an honorable mention Team of the Week. Two weeks ago, the Spartans were named the national Team of the Week.
The Spartans currently sit alone in second place in the Southern Conference with a 31-18 overall record and 19-8 mark in the SoCon. The last time UNCG had at least 19 win in league play was back in 2000 when it went 20-9 to finish in third place. The only other time the Spartans have had at least 20 wins in the SoCon was their first year in the league in 1998 as the team went 22-5.
UNCG has now won 12 of its last 13 games as it gets set for a three-game series at Wofford this weekend in the final week of the regular season.
