Hines named SoCon Player of the Week
GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro senior forward Kyle Hines was named the Southern Conference’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday for his outstanding play in a pair of wins last week.
Hines, who had his No. 42 retired prior to last Thursday’s game against Chattanooga, averaged 24.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in the Spartans’ two wins last week. He shot 57 percent from the floor and 85 percent at the line in the two games, also recording eight steals and six blocked shots. He extended his streak of consecutive games with 10 or more points to a nation’s best 78 straight games.
For the season, Hines is second in the SoCon in scoring at 19.6 points per contest and leads the league in rebounding at 9.1 per game and blocked shots at 2.9 per game. He has scored 20 or more points in 10 of his last 14 games.
Hines will be one of three seniors that will be honored in pre-game ceremonies for Senior Night prior to Monday’s regular season finale against Western Carolina. Game time is set for 7 pm.
