GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNC Greensboro Director of Athletics Kim Record announced Tuesday that WZTK-FM will be joining the Spartan Sports Radio Network for nine men's basketball games during the remainder of the regular season. The inaugural game aired on WZTK took place at Chattanooga on Jan. 11.
WPET-AM 950 will continue to carry all of the Spartans men's basketball games this season as it always has. In addition, WUAG-FM (103.1) will continue to supplement broadcasts as it has thus far again this season, carrying four more regular season games. WZTK-FM (101.1) will also now supplement the radio network with its powerful signal, carrying seven regular season games.
"We are pleased to be able to make this addition to our network," said Record. "Adding WZTK's signal to our network expands our broadcast area into Southern Virginia to the north, nearly to the South Carolina line going south, as far west as Statesville and as far east as Wilson. This is tremendous exposure for our program."
Owned by Curtis Media Group, WZTK is a 100,000-watt signal. It is also the flagship station for Wake Forest football and men's basketball, which prevents a complete schedule of UNCG men's basketball to be available for broadcast over its airways. Dick Stewart, Stan Lewter and Scott Pryzwansky call the action on the Spartan Sports Radio Network, with the pregame show beginning 30 minutes prior to tip.
