GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNC Greensboro forward Ben Stywall was named an All-District selection by the National Association of Basketball Coaches on Wednesday.
Stywall, a native of Charlotte, N.C., became the first Spartan to ever average a double-double and the first player in the Southern Conference since 2000-01. He earned all-conference honors from the SoCon coaches, first-team from the Southern Conference Media Association, and second-team All-SoCon Tournament honors.
He is currently eighth in the league in scoring at 14.3 points per game and leads the league in rebounding at 10.4 rebounds per game. He had a double-double in 11 of 18 league games this season and added another one in the conference tournament. He had a league-best 15 double-doubles for the year, breaking Kyle Hines' single-season mark.
This season, Stywall also ranks eighth in the SoCon in field goal percentage (.486) and third in steals (1.5 per game).
Stywall set a school mark for rebounds in a season with 323. He finished tenth in school history in career points with 1,245 and second in career rebounds with 961.
