"Go Blue Preview" scheduled for Oct. 17 at Greensboro Coliseum

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG will hold a special men's basketball "Go Blue Preview" event on Sunday, Oct. 17, to celebrate the start of the 2010-11 season at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Admission to the event is free. The "Go Blue Preview" will be fans' first opportunity to see the 2010-11 Spartans.

The doors will open at 4:30 p.m. with Spartan Chariot campus shuttle service available from the Elliott University Center for members of the campus community. The "Go Blue Preview" will begin in the Coliseum at 5 p.m. Free T-shirts will be distributed to fans as they enter the Coliseum while supplies last.

Team members will participate in a special 3-point shooting contest, picking a lucky fan to serve as a teammate in the shootout. The Spartans will also have a dunk contest and an intra-squad scrimmage. Following the scrimmage, student-athletes and coaches will be available for an autograph session and tour of the team locker room.

The Spartans will open the season on the road at VCU on Nov. 12. The home opener – one of 15 home dates for the Spartans in the 2010-11 season – is slated for Sunday, Nov. 14, against Florida State at 3:30 p.m. Moses Cone Health Care System is the presenting sponsor for the 2010-11 season.

The Spartans return 2009-10 SoCon All-Freshman selection Kyle Randall, along with fifth-year senior Brandon Evans, sophomore guard Korey Van Dussen and sophomore forward Brian Cole. Coach Mike Dement also welcomes six newcomers to the lineup – the frontcourt of Cody Henegar, Aaron Bracket and Aloysius Henry and backcourt members David Williams, Drew Parker and Trevis Simpson.

UNCG season tickets and "Gimme 5" packs are on sale now and will also be available at the "Go Blue Preview." Season tickets may be purchased online at ticketmaster.com or by calling the UNCG athletics ticket office 336-334-3250.
