Four in Top 10; UNCG third after first round at SoCon Men's Golf Championship
HOLLYWOOD, S.C. – Four of UNC Greensboro’s five golfers shot one-over 73 on Sunday to propel UNCG to a tie for third after the first round of the 2006 Southern Conference Men’s Golf Championship at the Links at Stono Ferry Golf Club.
J.D. Bass, Jake Lowder, Burton Wood and Nathan Stamey all carded rounds of 73 on Sunday to sit in a tie for ninth place with two other golfers. Scott Larkin of College of Charleston, Bryce Ledford from Chattanooga and Georgia Southern’s Ryan LeFerve sit tied atop the leaderboard after each carded rounds of 69 on Sunday.
The Spartans are in a tie for third in the team standings with Georgia Southern at 292, five shots off of the pace. College of Charleston at Chattanooga sit atop the team standings, tied at 287.
The second round gets underway with tee times beginning at 8 am on Monday. UNCG’s groups begin play at 9 am on the 6,701-yard, par-72 course.
