Stamey named second team All-SoCon
CHARLESTON, SC – Sophomore Nathan Stamey has been named to the second team All-Southern Conference men’s golf squad for his outstanding play this season.
Stamey, a native of Canton, NC, finished fourth at the 2006 Southern Conference Men’s Golf Championship, which concluded earlier this week at The Links at Stono Ferry. He shot 73-71-73 to lead the Spartans and record his second career Top 5 finish. Stamey’s fourth place finish was the highest by a UNCG golfer at the conference championship since 2003.
For the season, Stamey has recorded four Top 20 finishes in the 10 tournaments in which he has played and leads the team with a stroke average just above 74. In 20 career tournaments, he has finished in the Top 20 seven times.
UNCG will close out its season at the Cavalier Classic in Charlottesville, VA on April 29 and 30.
