First round action at Cavalier Classic suspended after severe weather

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The first round of play at the Cavalier Classic men’s golf tournament was suspended due to darkness after a weather-plagued day on Saturday evening.

A total of 59 players finished their opening round, including all five UNCG players. Nathan Stamey carded a 71 to lead UNCG to a 299 opening round score. Stamey is tied for eighth place after the opening round among those who finished the first 18 holes.

The second round of what will now become a 36-hole event will get underway at 8 am.
