UNCG closes out season at Cavalier Classic

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – UNC Greensboro carded a final round 309 to finish in 11th place at the 36-hole Cavalier Classic on Sunday afternoon.

Nearly half of the field had to finish their first round on Sunday morning. Only 59 out of 110 golfers completed play on Saturday after severe weather had held up play earlier in the day.

The Spartans were led by Nathan Stamey, who finished in 12th place. The senior from Canton, NC who was playing in his final collegiate event, carded a round of 75 on Sunday to finish with a total of 146. Augusta State’s Henrik Horlander won the tournament with a two-round total of 139. He shot a final round 68 to secure the win, one shot better than Virginia’s Greg Carlin and North Carolina State’s Brad Revell.

Virginia won the team title with a tournament total of 575, three shots better than Augusta State. UNCG finished with a total of 608 to finish 11th in the 21-team field.
