Hoadley finishes eighth at Toshiba NC Open
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - UNC Greensboro's Robert Hoadley finished tied for eighth with a tournament total three-under at the 46th annual Toshiba North Carolina Open at The Club at Irish Creek earlier this week.
Hoadley, a sophomore from Southern Pines, N.C., was one of four Spartans playing in the event. Will Almand finished at three-over 213 and tied for 29th place, while Colin Chapman finished at six-over 216 with three consecutive rounds of 72 and wound up in 53rd place.
Justin Clement missed the cut by one shot after rounds of 72 and 75. Hoadley began the tournament with an opening round 66 on Tuesday, before rounds of 72 and 69 the next two days to wind up at 207, four shots off the pace.
David Rogers of Bluffton, S.C. won the individual title at 203, one shot better than defending champ Steve Isley and Corey Nagy. Nagy was the low amateur in the tournament. Isley roared back with a final round 64 and had to wait in the clubhouse to see if his score would hold up. However, Rogers birdied Nos. 12, 13 and 14 and made par the rest of the way to secure the win.
