BEALSVILLE, Md. - Will Almand and Colin Chapman
are both in contention and UNC Greensboro is tied for second after
Monday's opening round of the weather-shortened Georgetown
Intercollegiate at The Members Club at Four Streams.
The Spartans carded a round of 296 in Monday's round, tied for
second alongside Richmond. Washington State is in the lead at 285.
Only one round was played on Monday after heavy rain in the area
throughout the weekend was followed by a frost delay this morning,
forcing tournament officials to shorten the tournament to 36
holes.
Almand, a sophomore from Cary, N.C. and product of Green Hope HS, carded an even-par 71 on Monday. Chapman, a sophomore and Franklin, N.C. product, shot a 72 on Monday. Washington State's Hank Frame is the individual leader after an opening round 68, one shot better than his teammate Trent Sanders.
Tuesday's final round is tentatively slated for a 9:30 a.m. start due to more cold temperatures forecast in the overnight.
