Hoadley's 70 leads UNCG in opening round at Pinehurst

PINEHURST, N.C. - Robert Hoadley's opening round two-under par 70 has him two shots off the lead and led UNC Greensboro to a sixth place standing after the opening round at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate presented by Gatorade on Friday.

Hoadley, who grew up right around the corner in Southern Pines, N.C., teed off on No. 10. He played his first nine holes of the day in 37, but played the front side in just 33, finishing with birdies at No. 7 and 8 and a par on No. 9 to close out his round. He sits two shots off the lead, which is held by Penn State's Kevin Foley. Virginia Tech's Mikey Moyers is second.

Penn State holds the team lead at even-par 288, one shot better than Eastern Kentucky and two shots ahead of Virginia Tech. The Spartans are sixth after a round of 296, eight shots back.

Saturday's second round gets underway at 9 a.m. with tee times off Nos. 1 and 10. UNCG will begin play in the 9:54 a.m. pairing off of No. 1.
