Chapman's red-hot round lifts UNCG to fifth after two rounds at Rod Myers Invitational
DURHAM, N.C. – Colin Chapman fired a second-round 65 to tie for the third-best round in school history and Robert Hoadley carded a 68 in the afternoon as UNCG sits fifth after two rounds at the Rod Myers Invitational hosted by Duke University.
Chapman shot a 76 in the morning round, and then caught fire in the afternoon. Having started his day on No. 10, he birdied Nos. 13, 14 and 16 to move to three-under in the second loop. After finishing the back side in 33, he birdied No. 1, but bogeyed at No. 3. Then, Chapman closed the round with birdies at Nos. 6 and 7 and an eagle on No. 9.
Chapman was two strokes shy of the school record of 63 set by Drew Younts in 2007.
Iowa leads the team standings at 563, six shots ahead of NC State. Charlotte is third at 572, following by Michigan at 575 and UNCG at 577.
