Men’s golf eighth after two rounds at AutoTrader.com College Classic

DULUTH, Ga.—UNCG men's golf team is eighth after two rounds of play at the Georgia State AutoTrader.com College Classic, which began Monday at Berkeley Hills Country Club.

The Spartans shot 595 (302-293) and trail overall leader North Florida (575) by 20 strokes in the 12-team field. Chattanooga (578), Georgia Southern (584), East Carolina (585), and Georgia State (589) round out the top five teams. East Carolina's Harold Varner holds the overall individual lead at 5-under par.

Colin Chapman and Robert Hoadley lead UNCG at 1-over par 145, and are in a five-way tie for 11th. Chapman shot 75-70 while Hoadley carded a 74 and a 71.

Alex Ehlert is tied for 39th at 151 (74-77), while Roy Dixon is tied for 61st at 156 (79-77). Andy Knox, who was forced to withdraw after injuring his knee four holes into the first round, returned in the afternoon and shot a 75 during the afternoon round.

The Spartans also had two players participating as individuals. Will Almand is tied for 29th after shooting 150 (76-74), while Alex Simmons is tied for 56th with a 154 (79-75).

The third and final round is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
