Freshman golfer to participate in international debate
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG freshman golfer Roy Dixon will represent the university in the upcoming Lloyd International Honors College's Great Debate against the British National Debate Team, 7 p.m., Thursday at the Ferguson Building.
Dixon will team with fellow UNCG student A.J. Gore and go against the British team of Ben Jasper (Oxford University) and Richard Robinson (Manchester University) in what is certain to be a spirited debate. The debate topic will center on the premise that Article 5 (the Principle of Collective Defense) of the NATO Treaty Should be Abolished.
Dixon, from Salisbury, N.C., participated in all four events this fall for the Spartans. In 11 rounds he posted a 76.1 stroke average. Dixon fired a 68 in his first collegiate round at the VCU Shootout.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information contact Dr. Roy Schwartzman, Chancellor's Resident Fellow, Lloyd International Honors College, at 336-309-2701.
