Men's golf opens spring season at Puerto Rico Classic

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG men's golf squad opens its spring season this weekend at the Puerto Rico Classic, Feb. 19-21 at Rio Mar Country Club in Rio Grande Puerto Rico. The event is hosted by Purdue University.

In addition to the Longhorns, the field includes No. 7 Georgia Tech, No. 8 Alabama, No. 16 Clemson, No. 24 Oklahoma State, No. 26 Georgia, No. 35 Oklahoma and No. 40 Purdue … the Puerto Rico Classic has become one of the nation's top tournaments … since its inception, six tournament champions have gone on to earn their PGA Tour card: Luke Donald (2000), Lucas Glover (2001), Troy Matteson (2002), Chris Kirk (2006) and Roberto Castro (2007).
