WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – UNCG men's golf team is in third place after two rounds at C&F Bank Intercollegiate. Spartan Alex Ehlert is sitting tied for ninth place overall with a total score of 144 (69-75).
UNCG has turned in a two-day total of 583 after Monday's 299 and is seven shots out of first place. The Spartans were second after Sunday's first round with a 284.
Kyle Sonday moved up two spots to 11th Monday after shooting a 74. He has a two-day total of 145 through 36 holes (71-74).
Will Almand also charged up the leader board with a stellar round Monday. His 1-over par 72 for the day moved him past 30 competitors into a tie for 16th with a 146 (74-72).
Robert Hoadley is tied for 28th with a total of 148 (70-78) and Roy Dixon is tied for 87th at 154 (75-79).
"It's great to have five guys that all believe in each other," said UNCG coach Terrance Stewart. "We had a tough finish today, but they will bounce back tomorrow with a good chance to win."
Missouri continues to lead the tournament after two days. The Tigers hold a five-stroke lead over second-place Old Dominion.
Emilio Cuartero and Jace Long, both of Missouri, sit tied atop the individual standings with Sebastian Backlund of Francis Marion. Each has a cumulative score of 140.
The third and final round at the famed Kingsmill Resort-River Course will begin Tuesday morning.
