GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG men's golf team travels south this weekend to Tampa Fla., for the Gary Koch Intercollegiate co-hosted by Auburn and Kentucky. The two-day event will be begin with 36 holes at the Old Memorial Golf Club on Saturday, followed by a final round of 18 holes on Sunday.
UNCG is coming off a 13th-place finish at the Bancorp South Intercollegiate in Madison, Miss., on Tuesday. Because of inclement weather, the tournament was shortened to a 36-hole event, where the Spartans finished with a score of 597 (298-299).
The Gary Koch Intercollegiate will be the Spartans' final tune-up before the Southern Conference Championships in Charleston, S.C., on April 15-16.
Saturday's action is set to begin at 7:35 a.m.

Tournament notes: The tournament has an impressive field including ranked teams Auburn (No. 4), Alabama (No. 7), Georgia Tech (No. 11), North Florida (No. 16), Virginia (No. 19), Florida State (No. 22) and Florida (No. 25). Virginia will look to defend both the team and individual titles. Last year, the Cavaliers beat Auburn by nine strokes while their own Ben Kholes took the 2011 individual title. College of Charleston will be the only other SoCon team in the field.
Up next: The Spartans head to Charleston, S.C., April 15-16 for the Southern Conference Championships.
