Spartan men 11th after first round at SoCon Championship
DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. – UNCG is currently sitting in 11th place with a cumulative score of 308 after the first round at the Southern Conference Championship. Each of the five Spartan golfers carded scores of 77 Sunday.
The 5-over par score ties UNCG's Will Almand, Roy Dixon, Alex Ehlert, Robert Hoadley and Kyle Sonday for 35th place individually with two rounds left to play.
Georgia Southern currently leads the tournament after recording a 290 Sunday. The Eagles hold a one-stroke advantage over the Terriers of Wofford College.
Chattanooga's Stephan Jaeger, the 16th-ranked golfer in the country, got off to a hot start, shooting a 6-under par 66 in round one. He leads Darren Cook of Appalachian State by four strokes.
Second-round action from the Ralston Creek Course will tee off Monday at 8 a.m.
