Men's Golf Concludes Play At Tar Heel Intercollegiate

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG men's golf team concluded play in its first tournament of the season Sunday posting a team score of 301 in the third round of the Tar Heel Intercollegiate at Finely Golf Course. The Spartans finished the 54-hole tournament with a team score of 899, to finish in 13th place overall.

Duke won the tournament with a team score of 856, finishing 8-under par to win the event by six strokes over host North Carolina. North Carolina State's Albin Choi won the individual title firing an 11-under par for the weekend, winning the event by six strokes over North Carolina's Patrick Barrett.
 
Senior Robert Hoadley (Southern Pines, N.C./Union Pines) was the Spartans' top finisher, sitting in a tie for 34th place after shooting a 4-over 76 Sunday. Hoadley finished with a three-round score of 223 (75-72-76). Freshman Luke Haithcock (Burlington, N.C./Williams) ended his first collegiate event tied for 40th with a 54-hole total of 224 (73-72-79).
 
Freshman Taylor Coalson (Dobson, N.C./North Surry) ended his inaugural event tied for 45th overall with a score of 225 (75-76-74) as he posted the best score of the day for the Spartans Sunday with his 2-over par 74. Sophomore Roy Dixon (Salisbury, N.C./Salisbury) posted a 232 (78-75-79) while senior Matt Younts (Stokesdale, N.C./Northwest Guilford) ended with a score of 239 (78-87-74).
 
The Spartans will return to action Sept. 24-25 as it travels to Richmond, Va., for the VCU Shootout at the Hermitage Country Club.
