Taylor Coalson Finishes Eighth At AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic

ATLANTA, Ga. – UNCG freshman golfer Taylor Coalson (Dobson, N.C./North Surry) posted the Spartans' first top 10 finish of the year, placing eighth overall Tuesday at the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic hosted by Georgia State at the Berkeley Hill Country Club. The Spartans finished ninth in the 16-team field overall with an 897 score (295-297-305), their lowest team score of the year.

Coalson finished the 54-hole tournament with a 3-over par 216 (72-74-70) to finish six strokes off the lead of South Carolina's Dykes Harbin. Coalson's third round total of 1-under par 70 is the lowest round of his young career and was the fourth lowest score of the afternoon. He opened his round with a triple bogey before rallying with five birdies, including a stretch of four straight from holes 13-16, before posting a bogey on No. 17.
 
Sophomore Alex Ehlert (Raleigh, N.C./Athens Drive) was the Spartans' second finisher, placing in a tie for 35th place with a 226 (76-74-76). Freshman Luke Haithcock (Burlington, N.C./Williams) posted a 40th place finish with a 227 (72-76-79), while senior Robert Hoadley (Southern Pines, N.C./Union Pines) tallied a 228 (75-73-80) to finish in 47th.
 
Tournament host Georgia Southern won the event with a score of 859 (283-286-290) while Georgia State was second with an 866 (282-299-285).
 
The Spartans return to action Oct. 19-20 as they travel to the Wolfpack Intercollegiate at the Lonnie Poole Country Club.
