UNCG men's soccer ranked 13th in College Soccer News Preseason Top 30
GREENSBORO, NC – The UNC Greensboro men’s soccer team is ranked No. 13 in the nation in the College Soccer News preseason Top 30, which was released over the weekend.
The Spartans return seven starters from last year’s squad that finished 19-3-1 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s Round of 16. UNCG was No. 1 in the nation for four weeks during the regular season last year for the first time as a Division I member and went on to win the Southern Conference title.
Led by All-American Randi Patterson, who may be a candidate for National Player of the Year this season, UNCG will open the pre-season on Sunday night, August 21 with an exhibition match at second-ranked Duke beginning at 7 pm.
Other ranked teams on the 2005 UNCG schedule include No. 9 Connecticut, No. 14 Wake Forest, UAB and North Carolina, who both received votes but did not crack the Top 30.
