Jones, Patterson earn NSCAA All-American Honors
CARY, NC – UNC Greensboro juniors Scott Jones and Randi Patterson were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-American squads on Friday.
Jones, a redshirt junior from Dallas, TX, earned first-team honors as a midfielder. He led the Spartans and the Southern Conference in assists with 14 and was second on the team in points with 24. A three-time All-Southern Conference selection and the 2003 SoCon Freshman of the Year, Jones was a second-team selection last year.
Patterson, a junior from Hackensack, NJ, earned second-team All-American honors as a forward. He led the team in scoring with 44 points on 18 goals and eight assists. A semifinalist for the Hermann Award, Patterson became the first two-time Southern Conference Player of the Year honoree in 20 years when he won it for the second straight season this past November. He was a first-team selection last year.
Both players were also named to the NSCAA’s All-South Region first team, which made them eligible for the All-American ballot. Jones and Patterson join Siggi Eyjolfsson, Eddie Radwanski and Jason Haupt as the program’s only two-time All-American selections. Eyjolfsson is the program’s only three-time selection.
