UNCG visits Georgia Southern in SoCon clash Sunday

+ UNCG and Georgia Southern meet up in SoCon action on Sunday afternoon. Both teams enter the match with three-game losing skids. Georgia Southern lost at NC State on Tuesday night, 3-2, while the Spartans have had off since a 1-0 overtime loss to Elon last Saturday.  

 

+ Georgia Southern is 0-2-0 in league play already, having lost to Furman at home in overtime, 2-1, and at Appalachian State, 1-0.

 

+ UNCG leads the all-time series, 15-1-3, but hasn't won in Statesboro since 2004. The teams tied in 2006 and Georgia Southern earned its only win in the series on the home pitch in 2008. Last year, UNCG shutout the Eagles, 6-0, in Greensboro.

 

+ Jon Cox and Ethan LaPan are tied for the team lead with three goals each for Georgia Southern. Georgia Southern goalkeeper Ryan Platt has a 1.59 GAA in 565 minutes this season.  Platt has a .773 save pct.

 

+ Eli Garner leads the Spartans in goals with three. Aaron Reifschneider leads UNCG in assists with three. Peyton Ford is the only goalkeeper the Spartans have used this season, thus far. He has a 1.44 GAA. Ford has a .688 save pct.

 

+ UNCG returns to home to face College of Charleston on Wednesday night.
