Ilhan named to PDL all-conference squad
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Men's soccer standout Hakan Ilhan has been named to the Premier Development League Eastern All-Conference team, the league announced on Tuesday.
Playing for the Carolina Dynamo, Ilhan scored 22 points on 10 goals and two assists while playing in 11 games. Earlier this summer the rising junior at UNCG was named to the PDL team of the Week.
As a sophomore for the Spartans in 2010, Ilhan led the Southern Conference in nearly every offensive category, including goals (12) and points (31). He was named first-team All-SoCon and earned a spot on the SoCon All-Tournament team after scoring four goals in three matches as the Spartans captured the tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
The Spartans open their 2011 season on August 16 with an exhibition game at N.C. State. After a home exhibition against UNC Pembroke on the 20th, UNCG opens regular season play by hosting Duke, 8 p.m., Friday, August 26.
