Seyrek, Kumdereli earn All-SoCon honors
SPARTANBURG, S.C. - UNC Greensboro's Orcun Seyrek earned first-team all-conference in singles and doubles alongside Arsel Kumdereli when the Southern Conference announced its men's tennis awards on Thursday.
Seyrek, a sophomore from Istanbul, Turkey, was 17-2 on the spring season, including a 9-1 mark in league action. Last year's Southern Conference Player of the Year, Seyrek had a 16-match winning streak at one point this spring, including 13 matches by straight sets.
In doubles play, Seyrek and Kumdereli were 15-9 overall at No. 1 doubles, including 13-6 in the spring slate. They went 6-4 in conference play during the spring.
UNCG opens SoCon Tournament play as the No. 3 seed, taking on No. 2 seed Furman on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
