CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – UNCG's men's tennis team gets back to its fall slate this weekend after a three-week layoff, heading to Chattanooga for the Steve Baras Fall Classic at the Champions Club.
The 10-team field on the men's side will feature Eastern Kentucky, East Tennessee State, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Lee University, Memphis, North Alabama, Samford, Tennessee Tech and tournament host Chattanooga. This weekend's action will also serve as a dress rehearsal for the 2011 Southern Conference Championships. The Mocs are hosting the SoCon men's and women's tennis tournaments at the Champions Club on April 20-23, 2011.
This will be UNCG's second tournament in its fall slate. The Spartans got off to a strong start three weeks ago, hosting their own tournament. Orcun Seyrek and Chanon Varapongsittikul both earned singles flight titles and both defeated teammates to do so. Seyrek topped Timion Meijs in the Flight A1 final, while Varapongsittikul defeated fellow freshman Ahmet Sarioglu to win Flight A3.
