UNCG opens strong at UTC Baras Collegiate men’s tennis tourney
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Three Spartans advanced to the
semfinal round of their respective singles brackets to highlight
UNCG's first day of action at the UTC Baras Collegiate Fall Classic
on Friday.
Orcun
Seyrek, Zach Reece and
Ahmet
Sarioglu each won twice in singles action to advance to
Saturday's semifinal round in their brackets. Seyrek a junior from
Istanbul, Turkey, who is seeded No. 1 in the Flight 1 singles,
handled Brian Kenton from Jacksonville State, 7-6 and 6-2, and John
Taylor of Memphis, 6-2 and 6-2.
Sarioglu and Reece took care of business in straight sets, as
well. Sarioglu turned away William Disterdick from Chattanooga and
Nik Schroeder from Eastern Kentucky, while Reece defeated Corey
Griffin of North Alabama and Jordan Faith from Chattanooga.
The Spartans also had three doubles tandems advance to the
Saturday semifinal rounds.
