Seyrek advances to round of 16 at ITA Regional
DURHAM, N.C. – UNCG junior Orcun Seyrek rallied twice to record three-set wins on Saturday to advance to Sunday's fourth round at the ITA Carolinas Regional.
Seyrek dropped the first set to David Hopkins of Wake Forest, 2-6, before coming back to win 7-6 and 7-5 in the second round. The third round had a similar tale, with Seyrek falling to Coastal Carolina's Matt Gordon, 5-7, in the opening set before winning the next two sets 7-6 and 6-4.
The Spartans' Yaroslav Litus won his second round match over Peter Billingham from Coastal Carolina, but was eliminated by second-seeded Jose Hernandez from North Carolina.
Seyrek, the No. 13 seed, will face NC State's Jamie Pulgar, the No. 4 seed, in the fourth round at 9 a.m. Sunday.
