Roueche advances in singles flight at Elon Invitational

ELON, N.C. – Sophomore Jimmy Roueche won a three-set singles match in the C Singles flight for UNCG's lone win Friday at the Elon Invitational. 

Roueche topped Georgia Southern's Sebastien Felt, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 after earning a first-round bye in the flight.

In the B1 Singles flight, freshman Randy Phillips fell to Richmond's Ethan Dunbar, 6-3, 6-2. Classmate Will Kent won his first set against Coastal Carolina's John Karle, 6-3, but dropped the next two, 6-2 and 6-1. 

In doubles action, Kent and Phillips fell to Richmond's Dunbar and Aaron Wicker, 8-3 in the B1 Doubles flight. Roueche, playing with Old Dominion's Alfredo Rodriguez, lost an 8-2 decision to USC Upstate's Yvon Haessig and Pierre Vernin in the B2 Doubles flight.

Play at the Elon Invitational resumes Saturday.
