Seyrek advances to round of 16 at USTA/ITA Carolinas Regional

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNCG senior Orcun Seyrek took a straight-sets win Saturday at the USTA/ITA Carolinas Regional Championships to advance to Sunday's round of 16 at North Carolina's Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. Sophomore Ahmet Sarioglu saw his tournament end in the round of 32.

Seyrek, seeded 10th in the tournament, downed Winthrop's Dejon Bivens by a 6-4, 7-5 count in the round of 32 to keep his tournament run going. The Istanbul, Turkey, native will face sixth-seeded Fred Saba of Duke in Sunday's round of 16 at 9 a.m.

Sarioglu got off to a great start against South Carolina's Ivan Machado, winning the first set 6-2. Machado rallied to win the next two sets, however, 6-2 and 6-1.
