Spartans ink Danny Mack to men's tennis NLI

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG's men's tennis team has signed high school senior Danny Mack to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Spartans next season, coach Thomas Mozur announced Wednesday.

Lauded by TennisRecruiting.net as a four-star recruit, Mack has lost just three times in his prep career for Lakeland Senior High School in Lakeland, Fla., all in the state tournament. Mack is undefeated against county and district competition and is a three-time Polk County Player of the Year and district champion. He reached the state 3A championship match as a junior last season.

TennisRecruiting.net has Mack ranked 105th nationally and 14th in Florida among the 2012 recruiting class.

"Danny Mack is a top recruit out of the state of Florida and is ranked in the top 30 in Florida's USTA rankings," Mozur said. "I'm looking forward to having Danny on campus next year. He will bring solid play for the Spartans on a consistent basis."

Also a standout in the classroom, Mack boasts a 4.0 GPA and earned awards for top math, English and science student as a junior at Lakeland Senior High.

Mack's parents, Robert and Cathy Mack, both played tennis at Swarthmore (Pa.) College.
