ELON, N.C. – Freshman James Dougherty (Melbourne, Australia) and sophomore Randy Phillips (Snellville, Ga. / Brookwood) teamed up to beat Coastal Carolina's Yusuke Kusuda and Ted Nilsson, 8-2, before taking down ECU's Colin Roller and Joran Vliengen, 8-3 in the finals of the A1 doubles flight Sunday.

"Brett and I got to see most of our players compete for the first time this weekend," said head coach Thomas Mozur. "This weekend gave us an idea of things we need to improve on as a whole. We look forward to getting better." 

Junior Ahmet Sarioglu (Ankara, Turkey / METU Development Foundation) and freshman Gaston Murray (Lake Worth, Fla. / Park Vista) fought to win 9-7 against Adrien Langard and Matt Waissen from UNC-Asheville in the semi-final round of the B2 doubles flight. Ahmet and Murray fell in the following match to JMU's Ryan Pool and Robert Stirling, 8-2 in the final round. 

Freshman William Albright (Greensboro, N.C. / Grimsley) and junior Jimmy Roueche (Greensboro, N.C. / Grimsley) paired up in their doubles flight to beat NC-Wesleyan's Clayton Sonn and Mikhail Konnov, but lost in finals to John Karle and Leo Christofides from Coastal Carolina.

Sophomore Cameron Smith (Jamestown, N.C. / Ragsdale) and freshman Daniel Mack (Lakeland, Fla. / Lakeland) went up against ODU's Alfredo Rodriguez and Darrah Glavin, but fell in semi-finals, 8-1. 

In singles play, Albright matched up with Jamie Yates from USC-Upstate in the final round, but lost 6-4, 6-1.

UNCG returns to action at the Chattanooga Fall Invitational in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Sept. 28-30.
