CHATTANOOGA, TENN. – Sophomore Randy Phillips (Snellville, Ga. / Brookwood) and freshman James Dougherty (Melbourne, Australia) took down Kyle Koch and Chip Cox from the University of South Carolina, 8-3, in their flights doubles final round on the final day of the UTC/Steve Baras Fall Classic.
Freshman William Albright (Greensboro, N.C. / Grimsley) and junior Jimmy Roueche (Greensboro, N.C. / Grimsley) picked up an 8-3 victory in the final round of doubles against ETSU's Rogerio Ordieg and Ricardo Pabon.
Sophomore Cameron Smith (Jamestown, N.C. / Ragsdale) and freshman Daniel Mack (Lakeland, Fla. / Lakeland) fought in doubles finals, but fell to UTC's William Disterdick and Pasha Grigorjevs, 8-5.
Junior Ahmet Sarioglu (Ankara, Turkey / METU Development Foundation) and freshman Gaston Murray (Lake Worth, Fla. / Park Vista) lost in a close consolation final round 8-6 to Elliot Barnwell and Fares Kilani from Samford.
In singles play, Phillips won in three sets with a third-set tiebreaker against teammate Murray in their flights consolation final round, 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8).
Albright played a two set finals match, but lost to ETSU's Pabon, 6-2, 6-4.
UNCG returns to action at the Wake Forest Invitational on Oct. 12-14.
