WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Freshman James Dougherty (Melbourne, Australia) picked up a huge victory against No. 78 Andrew Mellow from Furman, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4, on the final day of the Wake Forest Invitational, Sunday.

In singles, classmate  Gaston Murray (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) won in straight sets against Chris Mark (Davidson), 6-3, 6-4, in the 13th place match of the B singles flight. 

Freshman Daniel Mack (Lakeland, Fla./Lakeland) earned a victory against Dan Elston (Longwood), 6-4, 7-6 (7-5). Classmate  James Flynn (Plantation, Fla. / American Heritage) lost a tough match against Alex Howard from Davidson in the D1 singles flight consolation final. 

Junior Jimmy Roueche (Greensboro, N.C./Grimsley) concluded the tournament with a straight sets win against Josiah Boda (Liberty), 6-0, 6-1. 

In doubles, Doughtery and sophomore  Randy Phillips (Snellville, Ga./Brookwood) paired up for a 8-3 win against Dunbar/Fauchet (Richmond). 

Freshman William Albright (Greensboro, N.C./Grimsley) Roueche took down Carter/Weigel from NCSU, 8-5. 

The UNCG men's tennis team returns to action next week at the ITA Carolina Regional in Cary, N.C.
