CARY, N.C. – Sophomore Randy Phillips (Snellville, Ga. / Brookwood) picked up a Spartan win against the College of Charleston's Alon Fairman, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, but fell to Jason Tahir from Duke, 6-2, 6-1 Thursday, at the USTA/ITA Carolina Regional Championships, in Cary, N.C. 

"Randy got a good win today against Charleston," said head coach Thomas Mozur. "As a whole, I think we are getting a little better." 

Freshman James Dougherty (Melbourne, Australia) defeated NC Central's Jose Fabara, 6-4, 6-0, but fell to Duke's Josh Levine, 6-2, 6-4. 

Play at the USTA/ITA Carolina Regional Championships continues Friday, Oct. 19, beginning at 9 a.m.
