Vaccaro, Rutz lead UNCG at Carolina Invitational meet

CHAPEL HILL, NC – Nick Vaccaro and Xavier Rutz recorded Top 10 finished in the mile and Josh Wyatt logged a Top 10 in the 3000 meters to highlight UNC Greensboro’s day at the Carolina Invitational on Saturday.

Vaccaro, a senior from Hillsborough, NJ, was fourth in the mile with a time 4:21.44, followed closely behind by Rutz at 4:21.68.

Jeff Williams, who has won 800 meter races in the first two meets of the season, placed 11th in the 400 meters on Saturday, recording a time of 50.31.

On the women’s side, Tessa Dispenette and Naomi Damours had Top 20 finishes in the 3000 meters. Dispennette, a sophomore from Pittsboro, NC, was 14th with a time of 11:09.76, while Damours placed 17th with a time of 11:29.15.

UNCG returns to action in two weeks when it competes at the Southern Conference Indoor Track Championships in Clemson, SC on February 17 and 18.
