Spartans wrap up Duke Invitational
DURHAM, N.C. - TJ Wyatt and Lamar Watkins both set new personal-best times in the 800 meters as UNC Greensboro wrapped up competition at the Duke Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Wyatt finished the 800 meter seeded race in a time of 1:52.82, which was .10 better than his previous personal-best. That mark is now the new second-fastest time in school history.
Watkins wasn't far behind Wyatt as he finished in 1:54.15, setting a new personal-best by two and a half seconds. Taylor Hurst who finished the 800 in a time of 1:55.59 was just .38 seconds off his personal-best.
AJ Savoia also had a nice day as he came in seventh place in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. His time of 9:23.91 was just .10 seconds off his personal-best time he set in 2008.
On the women's side, Shaina Sumney came in eight place in the 800 meter developmental race with a time of 2:21.25. Her time was less than two seconds off her personal-best she set earlier this season at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational.
