Katam breaks school record at Meyo Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – UNCG's Paul Katam was the lone representative competing for UNCG on Friday at the Meyo Invitational and the sophomore impressed as he set a new school record in the 5,000 meters.

Katam finished in third place in the race in a time of 14:19.86. His time shattered the previous school record by 31 seconds that teammate Mike Koech set two years ago at the SoCon Championships.

His time is also the fastest in the Southern Conference this season by 15 seconds.

Five other Spartans will compete at the Meyo Invitational on Saturday, while the rest of the team will be running at the Kent Taylor Invitational in Chapel Hill.
