Men's Track and Field Completes Second Event of 2013 at Hokie Invitational
BLACKSBURG, Va. – The UNCG men's track and field team concluded day two of the Hokie Invitational at Virginia Tech Friday evening wrapping up its second event of the indoor track season.
Junior Abraham Kemboi (Eldoret, Kenya / Kipkabus) was UNCG's top finisher of the second day at the Hokie Invitational placing fourth in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 15:22.74. He finished 20 seconds behind Norfolk State's Natnael Meseret, who won the event in a time of 15:02.74.
Sophomore Brandon Cain (Graham, N.C. / Coker College) placed seventh posting a time of 16:09.93 in the event.
Freshman John Elwood (Greensboro, N.C. / Northern Guilford) finished the 600-meter race with a time of 1:26.62.
Classmate, Myles White made his debut in the 400-meter run finishing with a time of 53.90. He finished six seconds behind James Taylor of Norfolk State, who placed first in the event with a time of 47.15.
Freshman Joshua Crawford (Fayetteville, N.C. / South View), junior Paul Chelimo (Chebiemit, Kenya / Chebiemit Boys School), and sophomores Corey Paige (Charlotte, N.C. / Mallard Creek) and Eric Williams (Chapel Hill, N.C. / Northwood) teamed up in the distance medley, posting a time of 10:29.98. They finished ten seconds behind Charlotte's team, who won the race with a time of 10:19.29.
The Spartans continue action at the Hilton Garden Invitational, in Winston-Salem, Feb. 1, beginning at noon.
