Three earn All-SoCon honors; men third at SoCon

Elon, N.C. - Mike Koech and Joey Thompson were named first-team All-SoCon and Andy Clyne was second-team All-SoCon on the men's side.

On the women's team, Sherrika Jordan earned wecond-team All-SoCon honors.

Koech led the men's team as he finished in second place. His time of 25:03.59 was just over three seconds behind Emmanuel Kirwa from Chattanooga who won the race. Thompson wasn't too far behind as his time of 25:17.49 was good for fifth place.

Andy Clyne earned his all-conference honors with a 14th-place finish in a time of 25:49.29. AJ Savoia also turned in a top-20 finish by running a 26:08.64.

Jordan earned all-conference honors for the second consecutive season as she turned in an eighth place performance with a time of 18:66.02. Kerry Hartman just missed out on all-conference honors as she finished in 17th place with a time of 19:06.58.

Freshmen Shaina Sumney and Chelsea Sumney came in 32nd and 37th place, respectively, to miss all-freshman honors by just over 10 seconds.

The Spartans will now take two weeks off before competing at the NCAA Southeast Regional on Nov. 14 in Louisville, Ky.
