Greenway, Audley earn All-Southern Conference honors in softball

GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro right fielder Mary Greenway and shortstop Adriane Audley earned All-Southern Conference honors at the annual awards banquet in Greensboro, NC Wednesday evening. Greenway was selected to the first team while Audley earned a spot on the second team.

Greenway, a junior transfer from Tallahassee Community College, leads the Spartans with a .309 batting average and has a team-leading 40 stolen bases on the season. The Roanoke, VA native has also made her mark in the UNCG record books this season. Last weekend against Elon she broke UNCG’s single-season stolen base record, passing former Spartan great Leigh Irwin who tallied 39 stolen bases during the 2001 season. The award is Greenway’s first of her UNCG career.

Senior Adriane Audley also picked up her first All-Southern Conference award. Audley is fourth in batting average this season and is batting .266 on the season. She has scored 19 runs on 49 hits and is second on the team in RBI with 30. The Allen, TX native has tallied four home runs on the season which ranks her fifth on UNCG’s career home runs list.

Jennifer Golden from the College of Charleston was named Player of the Year. Chatttanooga’s Brooke Loudermilk took home both Freshman of the Year and Pitcher of the Year and College of Charleston’s Shelley Hoerner earned Coach of the Year honors.
