Day one of Southern Conference Softball Championship rained out

CHATTANOOGA, TN – Day one of the Southern Conference Softball Championship has been postponed by rain. Sixth-seeded UNC Greensboro will now open tournament play against No. 3 seed Appalachian State on Thursday at 11 a.m.

The contest, originally scheduled for Wednesday at 2 p.m., will also be moved to an alternate field as the tournament schedule is shuffled to try to make up for the lost day. Thursday's games will be played concurrently at Chattanooga's Frost Stadium and at another field on the Mocs' campus.

Should the Spartans win their opening game, they will face the winner of Thursday's 11 a.m. contest between No. 2 College of Charleston and No. 7 Samford at 7 p.m. on the alternate field. Should UNCG lose, it will take on the loser of the Charleston-Samford game at 5 p.m. on the alternate field in an elimination game.

Assuming the weather does not affect Thursday's schedule, the normal schedule will resume for games on Friday and Saturday, putting all of the remaining games at Frost Stadium.
