Spartan softball named NFCA All-Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNC Greensboro's softball team was recently named one of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's girls got game All-Academic Teams.

Coach Jennifer Herzig's Spartans turned in a team grade point average of 3.190 for the 2008-09 school year to tie for 59th nationally amongst Division I teams. The NFCA recognized 108 Division I schools as All-Academic Teams.

Six UNCG softball players earned Academic All-Southern Conference honors last season, with Emily Akiyama, Kayla Hensley, Laura Olenderski, Lyndsay Mouse, Mary Catherine Vercoe and Whitney Sirois all taking the distinction.
