Raeanne Hanks Named BCBSNC Blue Chip Performer
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG redshirt junior pitcher Raeanne Hanks (Rainier, Ore./Rainier) has been named this week's Blue Chip Performer sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. The Blue Chip Performer is chosen weekly from all sports in season and runs throughout the 2012-13 UNCG athletics campaign.
Hanks picked up her second BCBSNC weekly award after guiding the Spartans to a 4-1 week, including a perfect 3-0 record against SoCon foe Western Carolina. Hanks went 3-0 in the circle with a 1.94 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 18 innings of work.
The Rainier, Oregon native, leads the team with a 12-1 record with seven complete games and three shutouts. Hanks only allowed two earned runs in two games against Western Carolina, throwing two complete games to help the Spartans earn the series sweep.
UNCG returns to the field Wednesday, March 20 for a single game against Towson at 5 p.m. at the UNCG Softball Stadium.
