Kristen Boone named All-SoCon by both the coaches and media

SPARTANBURG, SC – Kristen Boone of the UNC Greensboro women’s basketball team has been named All-Southern Conference on Tuesday by both the league’s head coaches and the conference’s sports media association.

The sophomore guard from Upper Marlboro, MD was selected to the 10-member coaches team, while garnering first team plaudits from the media association.

Boone, the 2004-05 SoCon Freshman of the Year, averaged 12.8 points, 4.7 assists, 4.2 steals and 4.1 rebounds in leading UNCG to a 16-11 record and a second place finish in the conference with a 12-6 league slate.

She currently sits second in the nation in steals after topping the country one year ago. Boone leads the SoCon in assists, steals, free throws made (107) and free throws attempted (133) in her second season with the Spartans.

In addition, she ranks fifth in scoring, third in free throw percentage (.805), sixth in assist/turnover ratio (1.27) and eighth in minutes (30.2) throughout the league.

UNCG will take on the winner of the No. 7 seed Georgia Southern-No. 10 seed Wofford game on Friday at 5 pm in the quarterfinals of the SoCon Tournament at MCallister Field house on the campus of The Citadel in Charleston, SC.
